"Meghan is one of my favorite authors but the last few "trilogies" I feel could have been just 2 books. The product details says this book is 266 pages, but if you take in account for the VERY short chapters you could chop that number in half. I have to ask if one of my favorite authors is just our for more money...?"

Heart of the Devil The Forge Trilogy Book 3 Audible Audio Edition Meghan March Joe Arden Erin Mallon Books Reviews

  • Mind Blown! My heart was racing from the moment this started...right when all hell had broken loose in the last book. Sh** has gotten very real. Indy has been swept into a situation she could have never prepared for, and has to make snap decisions on how to proceed. Trust is challenged. No one is safe. Nothing is guaranteed. But she is a woman on a mission, just holding out hope that Forge is also working towards common goals.

It will take all of their strength, fortitude, and intelligence to navigate through. It is hard to know who is friend or foe. There are many antagonists, threats, and unknown agendas that they are having to deal with and they do not know who to really trust.

And the fragile bond they had is going to come up against some serious pressure. Both of them are dealing with guilt and internal struggles about certain situations. Indy is stubborn and resilient, but she also has her weaknesses. And Forge seems impenetrable, but even he has certain triggers and issues.

Their relationship was born in manipulation, half-truths, hidden agendas, and even a bit of coercion. Forge has always been a man who thrives on control. Indy is a woman that has always had to be independent and strong. They are both stubborn and strong-willed. And they both have been known to be unpredictable, and do not have a really good handle on the other's true thoughts and feelings.

The events in this book will test them to their limits and push them past their breaking points. Their choices and reactions could have repercussions. He has brought Indy into a world full of danger, and she has become a new weakness. And he has shaken up her world more than she ever could have predicted. They are both in grave danger and it can be coming from anywhere at any time.

This is a fast-paced, twisty, suspenseful, and intense conclusion to Indy and Forge's story. Some parts made me hold my breath, while others hurt my heart. It had me tense, angry, shocked, and surprised. But there were some fun and flirty parts too. This gave the characters more of a chance to dig deep into their own wants and needs, while also putting them into challenging situations. They both struggled with self worth, guilt, trust, and acceptance. And their own demons sometimes talked into their ears and affected their choices and feelings.

I had some theories. Some were correct and some were way off! I kept changing my mind on who was bad and good, and what the heck was really going on. The side characters definitely added to the drama and mystery. It was hard to know who was scheming who and who had hidden agendas. I was totally shocked with some events and twists. I love books that keep me invested and intrigued, and this one nailed it!

I had already fallen for Forge before, and even though there were times I wanted to throttle him in this one, he might be my new favorite Meghan March hero. Something about this hard-edged man hiding a heart that is just looking for an anchor, but also does not feel like he deserves it, really got to me. And Indy is really a tough, smart cookie, but just really wants to feel accepted and safe. He seems like the least likely candidate to do that, but I was pulling for them to finally get on even ground.

It brings everything full circle and ties up all the loose ends. So much happens and there is a lot to take in, but that is part of the fun of these layered trilogies that really have time to delve into these complex characters and worlds. There has been a common theme of playing to win and this one will come down to playing for keeps or losing it all. This was the perfect end to this sweeping, mysterious, suspenseful, and romantic trilogy.

  • I’ve been so invested in the Forge trilogy when this book hit my on release day; I devoured the entire thing before lunch. It was a high-octane finish to an intense and tangled series. Jericho and India both suffered greatly in this book and had myriad revelations to reconcile before they were able to find solid ground on which to rebuild their lives.

Heart of the Devil jumps right in where Luck of the Devil left off, while I’d remembered what had happened, I forgot the urgency of the situation and my heart was pounding by the end of the second page. I could feel Indy’s panic as surely as it was my own. Even while I was reading both perspectives and knew exactly what was going on, the starkness of her emotions overrode any security I had about Jericho throughout the entirety of the book

India and Jericho’s relationship was put to the test in Heart of the Devil, and it served to make both characters face the depths of their feelings. I loved the vulnerability they finally showed one another, since they’d both shown themselves to be impenetrable to even those closest to them. Each needed the strength of the other to finally release everything they’d pent up through their lives. It was quite interesting to realize how shockingly similar, yet strikingly different their pasts were, it was quite the juxtaposition, and I loved every part of discovering what made Jericho and Indy who they were.

The action of Heart of the Devil was insane. I was sure of the direction the book was headed and BAM! shocking reveal, time and again I was utterly taken aback by what seemed to be happening and what was actually happening. The entire Forge trilogy was rife with red herrings, I finally quit speculating as to what was going to happen and just buckled myself in for the wild ride Ms. March took us on.

Heart of the Devil is the third and final book in Meghan March’s Forge trilogy. This series is one story told in three volumes and must be read in its entirety. Heart of the Devil is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by India and Jericho.
  • I am going to rate the whole series at once rather than one at a time.
Book One laid a solid base for the following two books. There was good back story and character development. At first, I was not particularly attracted to either character. However, in book two we see some strong moments for both India, the poker queen of Europe, and the dashing billionaire who pursues her. They spend a lot of time dancing back and forth between lust, distrust and insecurity.
Book two ends with an abduction after a huge poker game in Prague. Book three eventually finds the lovebirds reunited, broken up, then again reunited for good. By this point Jericho has thrown in all his chips with India. But characters that seemed to be loyal, betrayed them, and those that were thought to be evil, turned out to be supportive. And .....the are a lot of dead bodies along the way. An action packed conclusion to the trilogy with many surprising twists.
